Blog Stats, The Motivation Shark and a Giveaway

My fab CP, Tiana Smith wrote a very interesting post on how to increase the number of people who view your website and how to track who is reading it. For more info please go to Tiana's website Spilled Ink.

Speaking of tracking blogs stats, I just realized blogger has a stats tracker. It tracks how many people have looked at your blog in the last day, week, month, and all time. It lets you know what posts were your most popular and it shows you which ones are still being viewed now. It does more than that so go explore and see what you can find.

According to the Stats my most popular blog post ever is Feeling The Motivation Shark. It's so funny that it's my most popular because it's so random, but it is an amusing post - check it out here if you'd like.

I'm feeling a little bit of the motivation shark this week. I've arranged with one of my CP's to submit a chapter a week to her and if I don't get it done she'll get after me and I'm doing the same for her. It's still true -- without some kind of motivation shark on my tail I don't write.

Also want to let everyone know that the book Across The Universe by Beth Revis is debuting today and one of my fav blog friends, Lori Walker is giving away an Arc of Across the Universe - go to Lori's website here. Read first chapter of Across the Universe here.

  2. It's so easy to get lazy without motivation. At least, it is for me. Thanks for the tips.

  3. Thanks for the shout out :) I love seeing which posts are the most popular, because sometimes, those aren't the ones that garner the most comments (though that's a good indicator too). The most popular of mine was that choose your own adventure thing I did. I'm glad it was popular, cuz man, it sure took a lot of work!

  4. I need that motivation Mary! I've been reluctant to do those revisions. I have to get on top of things!

  6. That shark is hilarious. Really. =]

That's awesome about the CP helping spur you on (and you doing the same!) because sometimes I need a kick in the fanny to get me rolling. Paddle on, Mary! Paddle on!

  9. Hehe, too funny!

I try not to look at my stats very much. I'm with Lori, it screws with my head, lol. But it can definitely be interesting. My favorite part is the search words it lists that shows what people typed in that brought them to your site. Sometimes it's so crazy!

  10. I so need motivation. I'm trying the chapter a week thing. I hope to get something done. WE will see.
How does one not feel the guilt their children and husband put on them? Any suggestions?

  12. I discovered the stats tab a few weeks ago and was also surprised at the posts that were the most popular. The shark did make me laugh though.
I'm currently having a review competition if you're interested.
